A high school football player in California has been accused of smearing a cream similar to IcyHot on an opposing player's face during a game.
The incident, which allegedly occurred on Sept. 4, was caught on video during a game between Bishop Mora Salesian High School and La Canada High School. Watch the video here.
Leslie Bess told NBC 4 Southern California that a player wearing No. 16 intentionally rubbed the cream on her son, Angel Salazar's, face.
"A boy from the other team stuck his hand under (Salazar's) helmet and put some stuff on his face and his eyes and it went all over his chest," Bess said in an interview with NBC 4. "I saw him hunched over, walking to the sidelines and I knew something malicious had just happened."
Salazar went to urgent care after the incident.
The athletic director for La Canada High School said she told referees about the incident, but they did not stop the game or investigate.
The principal for Bishop Mora Salesian High School apologized and had that player sit out for game.
Salazar and his mother have decided not to press charges, but they are still waiting for an apology.
