Doctors know it's all fun and games but they have a warning for fans about what they call Astros fever.
"Houston is obviously as excited as we are and we just want to remind everybody to be careful out there, if you're going to enjoy yourself make sure that you have the designated driver and please don't drink and drive," Pablo Tobar of Ben Taub Hospital said at a media event Friday.
Staff of the Harris Health System took a lighthearted moment to address a serious topic; they say high stress games bring people into the emergency room after fans fight or drink too much alcohol.
"Unfortunately, these are things that happen, so we caution everybody that if you do have ongoing medical conditions that you celebrate safely and know your limitations. Whatever that may be -- either making sure you don't drink, watching your diet, but just celebrate safely and you'll be just fine," Tobar said.
It's not unlikely that after big game days your body is physically worn down from fatty goods and dehydration and that's even worse for fans with chronic illnesses.
"Such as diabetes, high blood pressure, other chronic illnesses, you want to be careful especially if you're going to be drinking alcohol it does not always mix well with other medications and so if you have any questions it's best to consult your doctor," Tobar said.
