Johnathan Williams threw for 197 yards and three touchdowns to help lead Grambling State to a 41-15 victory over Texas Southern on Saturday.
Grambling State (7-2, 7-0 Southwestern Athletic Conference) has won seven straight games after back-to-back losses to open the season and currently are in the driver's seat in the SWAC Western division, a game ahead of Prairie View A&M.
Two of Williams' TD passes went to Verlan Hunter, including a 51-yard strike in the second quarter. Hunter finished with 79 yards receiving.
Martez Carter added 65 yards rushing and two touchdowns for the Tigers.
Grambling State scored the first 24 points of the game and led 31-3 at the half.
A 36-yard touchdown pass from Johnathan Bowen to Derric Griffin gave Texas Southern its first TD with 4:27 left in the third. Griffin had eight catches for 110 yards and two TD's.
