Wemby among NBA All-Star fan vote leaders with LeBron, Jokić

Victor Wembanyama has amassed nearly one million fan votes in the sprint towards the NBA All-Star Game, according to the league on Thursday, January 2. The standings were released days before Wemby's 21st birthday, which is Saturday, January 4.

The Spurs star is trailing behind Nikola Jokić, Kevin Durant, LeBron James, and Anthony Davis in the vote for the Western Conference. Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jayson Tatum and Karl-Anthony Towns are the players who have scored more than one million votes so far from the Eastern Conference.

NBA fans account for 50 percent of the vote to decide the All-Star starters, with NBA players and the media panel accounting for the remaining 50 percent. Players and media contribute 25% of the vote respectively. The five top players will serve as the starters in each conference based on the vote, and the seven reserve players will be selected by NBA head coaches.

According to the league statistic, Wembanyama currently leads the NBA in blocks with an average of 3.9 per game and is No. 8 overall in the league for points scored with an average of 25.6 points. The Rookie of the Year placed second behind fellow Frenchman Rudy Gobert for Defensive Player of the Year in 2023-2024.

The 74th NBA All-Star Game will tip-off at 7 p.m. on February 16 in San Francisco at the Chase Center.
