    High school top 25: A tough week for Bay Area’s best

    Five new teams enter The Chronicle’s Top 25 football poll after a rough week in which nearly half of those in last week’s poll were beaten.

    Ten teams lost, although previous No. 7 Bellarmine and No. 19 McClymonds were beaten by out-of area-powers Del Oro-Loomis and Paso Robles, respectively.

    The top 10 teams are the same, although Bellarmine (No. 8) and Milpitas (No. 7) traded places.

    Even top-ranked De La Salle-Concord had a scare, winning 28-27 over perennial Southern California standout Servite-Anaheim on a touchdown and two-point conversion from Kairee Robinson with one minute remaining.

    The biggest climb was made by Cardinal Newman-Santa Rosa, which went to 16 from 20 after a resounding defeat of then-No. 15 Analy-Sebastopol (the Tigers fell to 21).

    The bottom five teams from a week ago all lost and dropped out:

    San Leandro, Foothill-Pleasanton, Los Gatos, Hillsdale-San Mateo and Piedmont.
