Mission, Niamey Harris eye Turkey Day 3-peat

The Mission quarterback hopes to lead the Bears to their third straight San Francisco Section title by beating Lincoln on Thursday at Kezar Stadium.

Harris was the Academic Athletic Association’s Defensive Back of the Year as a sophomore and was The Chronicle’s 2015 San Francisco Player of the Year as a junior when he accounted for more than 3,000 yards and 40 touchdowns.

“He’s a big-time athlete who just continues to make big plays,” Hill said of Harris, the AAA’s Player of the Year in football and basketball last school year.

Lincoln head coach Phil Ferrigno said his team’s No. 1 objective is to contain Harris.

“Just when you think you have him, he escapes and makes a big play,” Ferrigno said.

Said Lincoln two-way lineman Ronald Phelps, who leads the Mustangs with 101 tackles and 10.5 sacks: He’s a great athlete.

Hill says the Bears have many other options, including Tyrese Johnson (5-8, 141), Yeurra Blaylock (6-4, 175), Joseph Broussard (5-8, 175), Floyd Barrow (6-0, 185), Jason Leui (6-0, 210) and Cheeko Wells (6-2, 175).

In the first six games of the win streak, Mission allowed a combined 33 points.

[...] it has allowed 61 in two games.

“We have to deal with their strength and size advantage,” he said.
