De La Salle-Concord’s baseball team, coming off one of its most dominating seasons in program history, struggled at times this season but is back in the North Coast Section Division 1 title game following a 9-1 semifinal home win Wednesday over College Park-Pleasant Hill.

Gio Mijares hit a solo home run and Nick Santiago added a two-run triple, highlighting a five-run third inning as fifth-seed De La Salle (20-8) advanced to Saturday’s championship game against Monte Vista-Danville at St. Mary’s College.

Winning pitcher Cullen Kafka (11-1) struck out six over four innings for the Spartans, who graduated 15 off last year’s 25-3 team that outscored opponents 187-44, including 17-1 over College Park in the semifinals.

In a D3 semifinal, Nick Roth fired a four-hitter with 10 strikeouts and Case Deist scored the winning run as Drake-San Anselmo (24-5) won 1-0 at second-seeded Analy-Sebastopol.

Lloyd shot a 6-under-par round of 65, which was three shots better than five other players, including teammate Daniel Kim, for medalist honors.
