    Sacred Heart Cathedral

At 22-8, including 9-5 in the West Catholic Athletic League, Sacred Heart Cathedral had more wins overall and in league play than it had had in more than 13 seasons.

The 6-3 right-hander and middle infielder led the Knights to their second straight Central Coast Section Division 2 title, which was clinched with a 1-0 win over Burlingame on May 27.

McGarry, who signed a letter of intent in November to play for Virginia, held Burlingame to two hits in 62/3 innings in the win.

The 6-2, 205-pound senior outfielder, infielder and pitcher finished a brilliant four-year career by hitting a career-best .481 with 12 doubles, seven home runs and 43 RBIs for the Gauchos (24-5).

The Arizona State-bound standout also made three relief appearances and allowed no runs and two hits in three innings.

The Dons (22-6-1) won their first North Coast Section title, largely behind their senior catcher who was a unanimous Most Valuable Player selection of the WACC Foothill Division.

    The strong-armed 5-10, 165-pounder hit .409 with 45 hits, 29 runs and 18 RBIs in 29 games and 110 at-bats.

Rosario also stole 16 bases and had 29 assists from his catcher’s position.
