Marin Catholic-Kentfield overcame a slow start and got big games from Oregon State-bound quarterback Spencer Petras and running back Cole Truex to defeat visiting Campolindo-Moraga 42-21 on Saturday afternoon.
Truex rushed 20 times for 138 yards and two scores and Petras completed 16 of 23 passes for 235 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 53 yards.
The Marin Catholic defense was also effective after Campolindo, the defending state Division 3-AA champion, took a 7-0 first-quarter lead on an 11-yard touchdown pass from John Torchio (17-for-30, 218 yards) to Max Schoenberger.
