Most of the campus is burned down. The air quality is extremely hazardous. Ash falls from the sky. Only certain officials are permitted on the premises.
Despite the danger zone, two senior athletes from Cardinal Newman High School in Santa Rosa, Deric Younce and Tyler Botteri, felt obligated to find their way onto the grounds.
“We had to see it,” Younce said. “I’m here all day from 7 in the morning. This is like our home away from home. This is like our house burned down.”
“So many hours on this campus,” Botteri said. “It’s devastating.
