Football coaches will rarely say it, but Steve Sell did.
It was during Aragon-San Mateo’s 40-7 Peninsula Athletic League Bay Division home win over Sacred Heart Prep-Atherton on Sept. 29. The Dons led 40-0 in the first half.
“I have to admit I was sort of in awe and sort of in shock,” Sell said. “The kids just went up and down the field. There were no self-inflicted wounds. I had not seen an Aragon team play like that in a long time. For an entire half, it was truly impressive.”
Sell, a 1984 Aragon graduate, was the top assistant for coach Britt Williams during the program’s heydays in the 1990s. He replaced Williams in 2000. This is Sell’s 18th season.
