A 4-yard touchdown run by Robby Rowell with six seconds left capped a stirring performance by the Acalanes-Lafayette quarterback, and a few moments later, fans stormed the field in joy as the host Dons defeated Lamorinda rival Campolindo-Moraga for the first time since 2010 with a thrilling 35-28 victory Friday night.
“I just put my head down and put the ball out,” Rowell said. “When I saw the referee signal touchdown, I couldn't believe it. ... I’ve grown up with every single one of those (Campolindo) kids and never come close to beating them. To do it in my senior year on Senior Night is unbelievable.”
The winning touchdown run was only one piece of a memorable night for the Acalanes senior.
