High school football: St. Patrick-St. Vincent drops after 1st loss

The Chronicle’s Top 25 teams went 19-6 last week, with two of the squads losing to unranked teams.

Defending state 6-A champion St. Patrick-St. Vincent-Vallejo’s winning streak was snapped at 14 games with a 25-20 loss to unranked El Cerrito (6-1), which moved to the No. 24 spot in this week’s rankings. SPSV dropped four spots to No. 25.

The other previous Top 25 team to lose to an unranked foe was No. 23 Mitty, which fell 22-21 to St. Ignatius (2-6). Mitty dropped out of the rankings.

The biggest climber is Acalanes-Lafayette, which moved up three spots to No. 16 after its last-second, 35-28 defeat of Campolindo-Moraga, which dropped from No. 15 to No. 18.
