The obstacles have been numerous for Oakland Athletic League football teams McClymonds and Fremont.
Injuries. Grade issues. Schedule changes. Attrition — McClymonds is down to 27 players, Fremont 22.
“Just got to roll with the punches,” Fremont coach Terry Hendrix said.
Said McClymonds coach Michael Peters: “We’ll just keep lining up with what we got.”
What they’ve got is good. Very good. The teams play at 7:15 p.m. Thursday at Castlemont to close OAL play.
McClymonds, the eight-time defending Oakland Section champion and defending state Division 5-A titlist, is 9-0. The Warriors have outscored opponents 396-59, including four OAL opponents 238-7.
