De La Salle ran only one play in the first quarter of Friday night’s North Coast Section Open Division semifinal against visiting Clayton Valley-Concord. It was a 76-yard touchdown run by Kairee Robinson, who went untouched down the right sideline on the first play of the game.
After Clayton Valley’s 20-play drive ended with a fumble — recovered by Robinson at the 8-yard line and returned 21 yards to the 29 — Shamar Garrett scored on a 71-yard touchdown run on the Spartans’ second offensive play. It never got much better for the Ugly Eagles.
De La Salle rolled to a 45-7, running-clock victory and punched its ticket into the division final Dec.
