The McClymonds-Oakland football team huddled around coach Michael Peters near the center of the field at Laney College.
The Warriors had just defeated Oakland Tech, 42-14, and Peters summed up his speech by saying, “Eight in a row, baby!”
Indeed.
Saturday’s win gave McClymonds its eighth consecutive Silver Bowl championship. The Warriors (12-0) have a 56-game winning streak against Oakland Athletic League competition.
Jamar Julien led the way for McClymonds with 253 rushing yards and a pair of touchdowns. The game was not worry free, however, as quarterback Emoreea Fountain went down late in the third quarter with a knee injury Peters called “serious.
