SACRAMENTO — There was nothing normal about the 2017 Pittsburg High football season.
The Pirates lost their starting quarterback before the season started. They had games canceled due to heat and air quality. Swirling winds welcomed them to Saturday’s CIF Division 1-A State Championship Bowl game at Sacramento State’s Hornets Stadium.
And then, despite an elite defense, they let a 21-point lead disappear in a 28-21 gut-punch loss to Narbonne-Harbor City.
“This has been the most interesting season,” Pittsburg coach Victor Galli said “Nothing surprises me at this point.
