Salesian, O’Dowd solidify spots at the top

There was no movement this week among the top seven teams in The Chronicle’s Top 20 boys basketball rankings.

But after that, there was quite a bit of shuffling.

No. 1 Salesian-Richmond and No. 2 Bishop O’Dowd-Oakland solidified their spots with wins in the Crush in the Valley Showcase at American Canyon on Saturday.

Previous No. 20 Branson-Ross lost a Marin Catholic Athletic League game to Drake-San Anselmo and dropped out, and the logjam of teams considered to move into the rankings included surging Mitty (6-12), which has won four straight, including a win at previous-No. 11 St. Ignatius on Friday.

Ultimately, we gave No. 20 to Serra, which upset previous-No.
