Bellarmine clinches 2nd straight WCAL title with win over St. Francis

Jake Wojcik scored 23 of his game-high 29 points in the first half and Kendall Stubblefield added 18 points as third-ranked Bellarmine clinched its second straight outright championship of the West Catholic Athletic League with an 84-70 win at 11th-ranked St. Francis on Tuesday night.

The Bells (20-3, 12-1) made 24 of 29 free-throw tries, including a combined 20-for-20 by Wojcik, Stubblefield, Nathan Metzger (11 points) and Kiran Kruse (nine points) to claim their first back-to-back WCAL championship in boys basketball in school history.

“I think we just have a very special, resilient group,” Bellarmine coach Patrick Schneider said about the historic back-to-back titles.
