Three touchdown passes from junior Jay Butterfield helped carry third-ranked Liberty-Brentwood to a 42-14 win at ninth-ranked McClymonds-Oakland on Friday night.
The 6-foot-6 Butterfield, rated the eighth best junior recruit in California by 247Sports, accounted for the first three scores of the contest, connecting first with Brenden Bell for a 4-yard touchdown that put Liberty (3-0) in front less than three minutes into the game.
Butterfield added two 19-yard scoring strikes, one to Sione Vaki and one to Darrion Bartley, before McClymonds (1-1) capped the half with a late touchdown.
