Opeti Fangupo rushed for three touchdowns and the St. Francis defense did what it’s done to every opponent for the past two months — and the Lancers cruised into the Central Coast Section Open Division 2 final with a 38-8 win over visiting Serra on Friday.
Fangupo gave top-seeded St. Francis (11-1) a 14-0 lead with touchdown runs of 2 and 8 yards over the first seven-plus minutes of the contest.
Fifth-seeded Serra (7-5) was within 1 yard of cutting the lead in half until St. Francis forced a fumble and recovered at the 1-yard line. The Lancers then drove 99 yards and scored on a 32-yard pass from Ryan Daly to Evan Williams for a 21-0 lead with 7:44 left in the half.
