Austin Jones got reflective when he sent in his official letter of intent to Stanford first thing Wednesday morning.
The Bishop O’Dowd-Oakland four-star senior running back, along with at least 11 other Bay Area football players, took advantage of the early-signing period (Wednesday through Friday) to secure his college plans and finish off the recruiting process.
Those who don’t sign by Friday will continue the process until the regular signing period of Feb. 6 to April 1. Approximately 25-30 more locals are expected to sign then.
“It was a real relief to get it done,” said Jones, the Bay Area’s No. 2 career rushing leader with 6,902 yards to go with 86 touchdowns.
