Wolforth Frenship is hosting a 7-on-7 state tournament this Friday. I haven't seen the teams yet, but typically you'll see Frenship and the Lubbock schools, plus Abilene, Odessa, Permian, San Angelo, and have even seen a couple of El paso schools in it.
Is that normal to put two qualified teams in one pool? they can't advance past pool play. And Yes...Pool D is a Monster
normally you dont see two qualified teams in the same pool, unless the host school feels that is their best opportunity to advance out of pool play. even then it is kind of frowned upon, but most teams stack the pool to some extent
Anyone else notice that La Marque is on there? Guess they are going to let them finish their last season together before they all go their separate ways. Also curious how much Dickinson is going to benefit.
No official word on if LaMarque is closing for sure yet so i guess its business as normal until then
Well that's interesting regarding LaMarque. I wonder if parents have the choice to send their kids to Dickinson due to the poor performance of the school.

I was told there were 139 kids.....in the school, unless I misunderstood.

If you want to see a stacked pool, look at the list for the Frenship tournament. Although they may be in for a rude awakening, as Cooper may give them a game if all their kids show up.

very true we will get crushed in the tournament we are in this weekend
Note to Central. This game doesn't count so we get the next game by 1 point.

WOODROW, Texas - The Abilene High Eagles qualified the Texas State 7-on-7 Tournament for the 17th time in 18 years Friday with their performance at the Frenship State Qualifying Tournament.
“I know we got better on both sides of the ball,” Eagles 7-on-7 coach Joe Galloway said. “We’ve got a ways to go on offense. We’re young and just learning, but the defense played real well. We just played hard. Even when we didn’t play well, we played really hard.
“Conlan Aguirre (a former AHS and current Hardin-Simmons defensive back) has got the defense playing really well, and Bryson Galloway did a great job with our offense.”
The Eagles, making their first tournament appearance of the summer, clinched their 12th consecutive state berth with a 19-18 victory over District 3-6A rival San Angelo Central in the semifinals, which were played at Lubbock Cooper’s Pirate Stadium.
Ronnell Wilson and Isaac Buenrrostro helped preserve the one-point margin by breaking up Central’s last conversion pass. Quarterback Peyton Killam and slot receiver Sebryn Morris were noted for their performances on offense.
Plainview defeated Lubbock Cooper 34-31 in the other semifinal. The Eagles and Bulldogs, who earned their first state berth, did not play a championship game.
The Eagles swept their pool, played at Lubbock Cooper Middle School, to earn the semifinal spot. The Eagles opened with a 31-6 victory over Lubbock Coronado, then beat Odessa Permian 35-26 before edging Lubbock Monterey 19-13.
The Division I state tournament for Class 5A and 6A schools is scheduled for July 10-11 at Veterans Park and Athletic Complex in College Station.
Abilene High is scheduled to compete in next week’s Abilene State Qualifying Tournament.
Did you see the semi game with the Bobcats vs Eagles? What did you think of some of the calls?
I saw some good stuff in the game vs Odessa High. 40-19 I believe was the score.
My hat's off to Plainview. They made some plays.
Yes, I saw the semifinal game. In my opinion, there are always going to be questionable calls in 7 on 7 that can impact both teams, so it is best to not let the other team hang around too long and then it doesn't matter about calls. What killed the Bobcats was getting close to scoring and coming away empty handed twice.
Odessa High went 0-3 in pool play so I would expect the Bobcats to look better against them

No Sir, if I come across them I will surely post them but I would bet someone else would have quicker access than I.
Won't be there this weekend, going to be in Caddo Mills, TI (Texas Invitational). When all the fastest Lambo's, GTR's, and such race to see who's the fastest. You think there is testosterone on this board, get around a bunch of street car drivers!

Nah, those guys have modified their engines, some up to 2,000HP at the wheels. Going to hang out with the boys from Underground Racing who's the best at rebuilding the engines. One of their Lambo's set a WR for the half mile last year at 234mph, insane! I'm afraid I will go and catch the fever, shipping the car off to NC to get a build. Just what I need, right?
Was very impressed this weekend with the Manvel Mavericks. We took a team of mostly freshman and sophmores to the A&M Consolidated tournament and had a great showing
Lost to consolidated 48-44
beat Magnolia 46-18
beat Navasota 41-20
Had we not already qualified this young team would have advanced to the semifinals based on points.
I will be there we will be there on Thursday to get gear and get set up will be eating at golden coral about 6 or 7 for any one that wants to hang out with the manvel folk
