DeSoto #7. MaxPreps.com released its list of the 10 toughest high school football schedules in the nation today. DeSoto is ranked No. 7. Here’s the complete Top 10.
DeSoto’s 10 regular-season opponents had a combined record of 80-41 last season. DeSoto opens the season against regional semifinalist Arlington Martin on Aug. 29, then plays an IMG Academy team that is ranked No. 3 in the nation by MaxPreps.
DeSoto’s other two nondistrict games are against 2014 5A Division II Region II finalist South Oak Cliff and 6A Division II state semifinalist Cibolo Steele. In District 8-6A play, DeSoto will face defending 6A Division II state champion Cedar Hill.
7. DeSoto (Texas)
Notable opponents:
IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) - Sept. 5 at home
Arguably Florida's top-ranked team will be on the road to face one of Texas' best. Two powerhouse states, two powerhouse programs going at it.
Cedar Hill (Texas) - Oct. 23 at Cedar Hill
The Longhorns start the season ranked No. 7 overall on the season. By the time this game happens, Cedar Hill could be near the top of both the state and national rankings.
Martin (Arlington, Texas) - Aug. 29 - at Mansfield Newsom
DeSoto will have a week 1 matchup with Martin, who starts at No. 9 overall in the state.
