ABILENE, Texas - The Abilene High Eagles have finalized details of their Class 6A bi-district playoff series with the North Crowley Panthers.

The teams will play a best-of-three series at Pratt Field in Mineral Wells. Game 1 is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Friday with Game 2 at noon Saturday. Game 3, if necessary, will start about 30 minutes after the conclusion of Game 2.

Abilene High (17-5) enters the postseason as District 3-6A champions. The Eagles, who have won nine games in a row, clinched their first outright district title since 2008 with a 4-1 victory at Odessa High on Friday.

North Crowley (15-9) earned the No. 4 seed from District 4-6A by defeating Fort Worth Paschal 4-0 on Saturday in a district playoff as Ethan Bleeker pitched a three-hit shutout.

The Abilene High Eagles are just about to start their Bi-district series with North Crowley.

The Eagles enter the playoffs on a red-hot streak with 9 straight wins and a district championship under their belt.

Abilene High starts the postseason as the favorite to win their first round playoff series.

Coming into the 3rd season, head coach Ryan Lewis expects one thing from his team.

Lewis said, "At this point, we just got to continue to be consistent. I've said that multiple times, and these guys have continued to do that. They stayed the course throughout the game. Never too high, never too low. (They) understand you don't necessarily win a game in the first inning or lose a game in the first inning. You got to play them all, and there's no time limit. It comes down to 21 outs or 24 outs or 27 outs depending on long the game goes. The goals right now are to win Friday, and that is it. That is our one goal right now it to win the next game."

The Eagles start the playoffs on Friday in Mineral Wells.

Game 1 against North Crowley is at 5:30pm.

The series continues with Game 2 on Saturday back in Mineral Wells at noon.

Ryan Lewis is the coach, took over in 2013 when Scottie Sanchez (10 seasons) stepped down so yes, his first DC. Last DC was in 2008 advancing to the Regional QF.

Actually, that was meant more as a commentary on Arl. Martin's easy draw to date rather than any kind of dig at Abilene. Even the most diehard fan of West TX baseball has to admit that OHS and Monty didn't provide much competition for Martin. They both got swept and neither got closer than a 5 run deficit, so if my alluding to that showed disrespect, I apologize.

We've always considered Abilene to be the one West TX team that competes pretty well with the DFW powers. Y'all have a chance to do that again this week against Martin. Best of luck!!

This looks to be a tough series for AH. We'll see what they're made of. Martin comes in only losing 3 games on the year, correct?

Correct.......Arlington Martin is 18-3 overall. They would likely have a better record if they did not have an amazing 9 rain outs during the season.
Their best players are pitcher Eric Walker, 8-0 .835 era with 76K's and cleanup hitter Josh Watson, who returned to the lineup mid season after recovering from injury. Since his return, Watson is hitting .550 with 4HR's and 17 RBI's in just 20 AB's.. AHS will have to play their best to keep these two players from dominating the series.

San Angelo has a very good pitcher that AH just couldn't hit off. This could cause problems in game one and if AH forces a game three, they could see him again in that game.

In spite of a strong pitching performance by Derek Scott for Abilene High, Arlington Martin topped the Eagles, 2-1, to open their Class 6A Regional Quarterfinal series.

Mark Pearson put the Eagles in front in the first inning. He singled to drive in Scott to give Abilene High a 1-0 lead.

Scott made that lead stand into the 5th inning, but that's when Arlington Martin woke up.

Joshua Watson singled to centerfield to bring home Grant Jones. That run tied the game at 1.

Later in the inning, Tristen Lutz delivers another basehit for the Warriors. His hit scored Trey Proffitt to put Martin on top, 2-1.

Scott threw a complete game for Abilene High and gave up just 4 hits and those 2 runs, but Martin pitcher Conner Lidiak was just a little better. He gave up just 2 hits and 1 run in his complete game victory.

Derek Scott said, "It was a good pitching duel. Their guy threw really well today and I felt good on the mound. We didn't swing it today as we could have, we have to come out tomorrow and do that better."

Coach Ryan Lewis said, "Great pitching on both sides. They got a couple of timely hits at the right time and got a couple of runs across and that was the difference in the game."

Abilene High and Arlington Martin meet again in Brock for Game 2 on Saturday.
